This is old news, but still interesting. I’m curious to see if there’s an updated version.

Hey, it’s pretty much spot on with the US’ population density. Who’d’ve thunk?

How did 4 people die in a park with a speed limit of 25mph?

I was going to post that exact same thing.
Apparently people who are consumers of furry porn also get in car accidents. Or something... :)

That they also subscribe to Martha Stewart Living is a little weird though.

Better yet, how did someone die in a car accident on Mackinac Island?

The fuck?! That can't actually be right ….. or maybe ….. it was murder!

Possibly someone died in the ambulance? I think there are a couple cars on the island, but they are official vehicles only.

I bet it was a snowmobile. Technically, purple is just for “vehicle occupant” and I suppose that could include a runaway horse carriage as well.

Pretty sure snowmobiles are verboten. Maybe there is one for official business, but the island has very few permanent residents so I'm not sure how many people are even on Mackinac Island over the winter.

Nope, they’re super popular in the winter. My uncle and his family ride across the ice bridge almost every year. There’s only like one business open, but for some reason people head over there all the time.

Huh, I just assumed that it would have been off limits being mostly a state park and all. It could very well be a snowmobile accident, but it seems like they would have filed that under motorcyclist.

I don’t know the purple one, but I know the orange one.
The motorcyclist was riding west-bound on State Highway 82 at 55mph on a Honda XL600R enduro motorcycle. As he approached Generations Bar and Grill (which is on the north side of 82) an intoxicated woman in a Chevrolet truck pulled out 20 feet in front of him. The motorcycle slammed into the bedside of the truck.
The driver of the truck drove back into the bar parking lot and went inside to work on a cover story with the bar patrons. Nobody in the bar, INCLUDING THE BAR EMPLOYEES, called 911. A vehicle following the motorcycle stopped and rendered assistance, including calling 911. The rider died of his injuries before the ambulance arrived. The driver of the truck got 1 year in county jail for manslaughter.
As a motorcyclist, it pisses me off just to type it. I’ve vowed never to give that bar a single dollar of my business ever.
I actually ended up with the motorcycle involved in the crash - I was working at a salvage yard and bought it to use the motor in a project. I didn’t find out how it was wrecked until afterwards. The motor is the only usable part left - frame bent, forks and front wheel destroyed, along with the handle bars and the fuel tank.

That is absolutely insane. A year for manslaughter would be fine if it was a true accident. The fact that she was drunk should bump it up to five years minimum. And the fact that she actively tried to cover it up, though.... That should be twenty, plus at least ten years afterward with no license.

Yeah, it was a miscarriage of justice.

Is the number in the top left corner the age?

Yeah, although there seem to be a lot of 99s, so I’m guessing that’s just a mistake. I’ve even seen a couple 999s.
